OCR / RSA Training Courses

For many years OCR / RSA Text Processing qualifications have been demanded by a huge number of employers, including the NHS. This is likely to continue to be the case for many years to come. Although OCR are no longer holding Text Processing examinations, we continue to run these courses. To plug the gap left by OCR / RSA we are offering assessments and examinations, providing equivalent qualifications. Those people without equivalent qualifications are at a severe disadvantage when applying for many jobs.

OCR Text Processing Level 1 Award (RSA 1)

This course combines OCR Text Production Level 1 and OCR Word Processing Level 1. This combination of units is the equivalent of the old RSA Stage 1, Part 1 and Part 2.

The course involves typing and word processing a variety of business documents including, letters, reports, menus, notices and advertisements. It also includes learning abbreviations, spellings and correction signs, moving and copying text, emphasising text, changing margins and locating information from a resource sheet.

This level 1 training course is suitable for people with little or no experience of working in an administration or secretarial environment. It is especially suitable for school/college leavers.

OCR Text Processing Level 2 Award (RSA 2)

This course combines OCR Text Production Level 2 and OCR Word Processing Level 2. This combination of units is the equivalent of the old RSA Stage 2, Part 1 and Part 2.

The course involves typing and word processing at level 2 a variety of business documents including, letters, reports, menus, notices and advertisements. It also includes learning abbreviations, spellings and correction signs, moving and copying text, emphasising text, changing margins, changing the line length and dealing with a distraction. The course also covers the use of tables and pictures.

This level 2 training course is suitable for people who have worked in an administration or secretarial environment and who need to prove their knowledge to employers by gaining a qualification. Level 2 text processing / word processing qualifications are used by thousands of employers as the benchmark by which they can judge the competence of a prospective employee.

It is not necessary to take a text processing course at level 1 before taking this level 2 text processing course.

OCR Text Processing Level 3 Award (RSA 3)

This course combines OCR Text Production Level 3 and OCR Word Processing Level 3. This combination of units is the equivalent of the old RSA Stage 3, Part 1 and Part 2.

The course involves typing and word processing at level 3 a variety of business documents including, letters, reports, faxes, minutes, terms of reference and memoranda. It also includes correcting grammatical errors such as apostrophes which are not indicated in the scripts. Text Boxes, tracking changes, complex tables and two-sided documents are also covered.

This level 3 training course is suitable for people who either already hold level 2 qualifications or who have significant work experience in a secretarial role. A level 3 text processing / word processing qualification is widely sought after by discerning employers, especially the National Health Service.

It is not necessary to take a text processing course at either level 1 or level 2 before taking this level 3 text processing course.

OCR Text Processing Level 3 Award (RSA 3): Word Skills

This course covers the Microsoft Word skills needed before starting our OCR Text Processing Level 3 Award (RSA 3) course, the equivalent of the old RSA Stage 3, Part 1 and Part 2.

The course provides detailed instruction on the following word processing skills: using a supplied file; numbering a list; creating footnotes; changing left and right margins; changing linespacing; changing justification; pagination - deleting and inserting page breaks; numbering pages as specified; sorting items in a list; copying text within the same document; insetting text from left and right margins; inserting a header and a footer in specified font and position; moving text within the same document; changing case; inserting a text box of specific size with text wrapped as specified; searching for and replacing text; using track changes to display alterations; using columns of specified width; setting and changing font style and size; underlining text; centring text; producing a complex table with horizontal and vertical headings; aligning decimal points in a table; sorting data in a table; formatting a table (line and line styles); formatting a table (shading); using portrait and landscape orientation; producing a two-sided booklet style document (using columns); copying text to a separate document; inserting and resizing a picture.

OCR Medical Diploma Level 2

This course combines OCR Medical Word Processing Level 2, OCR Medical Audio Transcription Level 2 and OCR Text Production Level 2.

The course involves typing, word processing and transcribing from audio a variety of business documents, most with a medical context including, medical letters, tables, notices, posters, advertisements, information sheets, reports and articles. It also includes learning abbreviations, spellings and correction signs, moving and copying text, emphasising text, changing margins, changing the line length and dealing with a distraction.

This level 2 training course is especially suitable for people who have worked in an administration or secretarial environment and who need to prove their knowledge to employers by gaining a qualification. The course is particularly relevant for people wishing to work in the NHS.
