Certification: OCR / RSA equivalent

Employers have required candidates to have OCR or RSA qualifications for many years and they are likely to continue to do so for many years to come. RSA examinations were withdrawn in 2008 and directly replaced by OCR examinations. These OCR examinations were then withdrawn in 2017 and not replaced. Our OCR / RSA equivalent qualifications plug this gap. Without equivalent qualifications, the employment and promotion prospects of those people without formal OCR or RSA qualifications would be severely hampered.

We have 2 types of OCR / RSA equivalent qualifications, one awarded following an end of course assessment and one awarded as the result of an on-line invigilated examination.

Assessment

Each OCR / RSA Text Processing unit includes an assessment. This assessment is taken at the end of the learning process. Students who successfully complete an end of course assessment will be awarded the Act Assessed Certificate (AAC) or the Act Assessed Diploma (AAD), as appropriate.

Cost

For students enrolled with us on the corresponding course, there is no additional charge for this assessment or for issuing the certificate.

On-line invigilated examination

Some employers prefer qualifications that have been awarded to candidates as a result of an invigilated examination. Students who pass our on-line examinations will be awarded the Act Invigilated Certificate (AIC) or the Act Invigilated Diploma (AID), as appropriate.

As well as providing this as an optional extra to our enrolled students, we also offer these on-line invigilated examinations to people not enrolled with us, but who need proof of their competence in OCR / RSA subjects.

How on-line invigilation works

  • An appropriate date and time is agreed between the candidate and the invigilator. This could be during the working day, in the evening, or at the weekend.
  • A Skype connection is made at the agreed time.
  • The invigilator carries out security checks with the candidate.
  • The invigilator emails the examination files to the candidate.
  • The candidate copies the files to his/her computer ready for use.
  • The candidate completes the exam in one, timed and invigilated session.
  • The candidate emails the completed files to the invigilator for marking.

Technical requirements

In order to be able to take our on-line examinations, the candidate must have access to a computer that meets the following hardware and software requirements:

  • Internet access
  • Webcam
  • Word processing software eg Microsoft Word
  • Email
  • Skype

Cost

For students enrolled with us on the corresponding course, the cost for this optional extra is £50 per examination.

For external candidates, the cost is £70 per examination.
